Dear Citizens of Highland Park,
As your newly
elected Mayor, I am proud to inform you that the
City of Highland Park is aggressively working to
meet the needs of our citizens with optimal customer
service while addressing the business of city
government. In partnership with City Council,
we are collectively working together for our best
interest and maintaining our efforts to keep
Highland Park strong in even the most challenging
While we have created and are
implementing our plan to address a $1.5 million
dollar deficit and, working with our Police
department, we are still focused on ways to make our
city safer for our residents and businesses.
With our Code Enforcement division, we are making
our local businesses more accountable by issuing
citations for non- compliance and bridging the gap
as we encourage their involvement in serving as
responsible community partners. Even with
limited manpower, our Police department is
maintaining focus on better communications and
overall resident engagement.
We are moving
ahead with our NSP2 Housing Project and you are able
to see that development while riding down Midland.
New homes and rehab of many
historic homes are on full display in the
same area. Our goal is to provide affordable,
energy efficient, beautiful homes for current and
new residents interested in making a positive
contribution to the City of Highland Park. As
we continue to build, we invite all residents to
visit Michigan Works, on Manchester Parkway, to
engage in the employment process.
Opportunities exist throughout the city with our
construction projects and other expansion projects
which are on the horizon.
I encourage ALL of
you to stay connected and excited about OUR FUTURE!
WE CAN AND ARE TURNING OUR CITY AROUND! With
strong, committed leadership and community support
and engagement, our BEST days are right in front of
US! Please call my office, at (313)
252-0050 x240, so that we can address all of your
questions, comments and concerns. We continue
to work for you!
IT IS INDEED A GREAT DAY IN
THE CITY OF HIGHLAND PARK and I thank you for ALL
THAT YOU DO.
