Hubert Yopp

Yopp is a lifelong Highland Parker. His devotion to
servicing the City of Highland Park is personal as
he himself grew up in the city and graduated from
Highland Park High School. He continued his
educations at Mercy College of Detroit receiving an
Associate Degree in Criminal Justice, then a
Bachelor of Science at the University of Detroit
Mercy. The Mayor attended Eastern Michigan
University- Interdisciplinary Studies earning 12
credits in the Master’s Program, as well as Michigan
State University studying Community Policing.
Recently Mayor Yopp was selected as one of two
Michigan Officials to attend Harvard University,
John F. Kennedy School of Government in Boston, MA.
As of June 2008 he became an official Alum of
Harvard University.
Mayor Yopp has an extensive history in public
service. He dutifully served the US Army for seven
and half years holding positions such as Personnel
Management and Military Police Detective. After
being honorably discharged, Mr. Yopp became a
Michigan State Certified Police Officer, attaining
the rank of Executive Officer, a Michigan Certified
Firefighter, and a Licensed Michigan Real Estate
Agent. Mayor Yopp also established his own detective
agency, Yopp’s Detective Agency, once becoming a
Michigan State Licensed and Bonded Private
Investigator.
Before being elected to the position of mayor,
Mr. Yopp’s commitment to Highland Park was
demonstrated by his time served with the city. He
served on the Highland Park Board of Education as a
Substitute Teacher. He also served in the Highland
Park City Council. While serving the city, the mayor
has been committed to other affiliations including
being a life member of the NAACP, NOBLE (National
Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives),
MCPI (Michigan Council of Private Investigators) and
NOCBOR (North Oakland County Board of Realtors) and
Moss-Eason-Historical Block Club.
